Data Objects
What are Custom Data Objects?
Custom data objects let you model things specific to your business that are not contacts, companies, or deals. They are a full-featured sibling to the CRM, with custom fields, pipelines, and workflow triggers.
When to use a custom data object
If you find yourself bending the CRM to fit your data, abusing the notes field, creating contacts that are not really people, a custom data object is usually the right move.
- Leads (if you want them separate from contacts)
- Projects, Cases, Applications, Tickets
- Properties, Inventory, Reservations
- Invoices, Orders, Shipments
- Anything with a lifecycle and a set of fields
What you get
- A typed schema, add fields with the same types as CRM fields.
- A list view, view, search, filter, and paginate records.
- A Kanban pipeline, optionally add stages and drag records between them.
- Triggers, run workflows when a record changes.
- Integration with the AI Agent, the agent can read and update these records using the Query CRM ability.
Data objects live in Settings โ Data. See the next article to create your first one.
